This time, we are going to be direct and clear, in what we want You to think of shotstories.net,

 cause some of our patrons still can`t comprehend as to what we are all about..

 completely our fault!! To make it easier for You, we want You to look at  just the PICTURES. 

Yes, Pictures. You can completely ignore the masonry of words in between, and You`ll know what we are talking about. Ladies and Gentlemen, that is what we do. And those did`nt come out of chance encounters, they came out of photo assignments that we sought and continue to seek.

 
Starting with Beauty, these shoots happened when a few lifestyle and Beauty industry brands converged and got us to shoot a showcase of their products. You don`t always have to be part of a convergence summit, to make us work for You. We can customize a shoot for Your brand, a brand which could even be You yourself. Food
It could be made from the entrails of a Pumpkin and deep fried in Mustard Oil, but if it looks good I just might try it. And I did try all of these below and they were delicious even after they had gone cold as I shot them first. 

We shot most of these at some of the most well known eating places in Town. 

Your patrons may get to see what`s cooking inside Your kitchen before the dough hits the stove. How bout a nice photo album for the facebook page of Your cook shop!!

Products 
Product photography is like the arts and crafts assignment that we had in school. This one over here is what we do at home in our studio. It`s amazing what satin and a sheet of paper can do to a shot. Equally amazing is how You can showcase Your product without a showroom.
 Allow us to amaze You.

Look of the locks

   We`ve shot Beauty lately, or Beauties rather, but this time the beauty shoot had us look at the assingment like we do at a product shoot. We`ve shot Products before, with the elements of the human anatomy as props, and we`ve shot Beauty before, with the human form as a wonderful canvas for our photo illustrations.
This time however, things got a little tricky. The theme was Hairdo and Makeup at the Mojo Salon.
Tricky, cause I had a tough time reconciling to the fact, that a pretty face was not to be part of the picture.


But we were determined to get Shot Stories to have a human face and a pretty one at that.

 And Ekta, on the left is our Prop/Canvas for the tufts and locks fashioned for a bridal look.This one time Ekta had to have her back to the Light, firstly to highlight the theme/subject, which is hair in this story and secondly, with less light on her face, You are more likely to pay more attention to the hairdo.

The faces got prettier with Sakshi joining us for the shoot, and things got trickier, trying to forget the face and focus on the hair.

















We seated Sakshi between two opposing Flash heads, with asymmetrical power settings to get just a trickle of light on  her face and a torrent of illumination down the back of her head.
Are we getting a little technical here? Relax! You can just take a good look at a picture and learn... Learn what makes the picture click. At first glance, you`d be looking at her  hairdo, if You were looking for one, but otherwise, it`s her face that would strike You first, before Your eyes scan the rest of the frame. Agree?

My fault! Sakshi can`t probably help her attractiveness. Right?




With Akriti on the left we are determined to regain focus, and one look at the picture, You know we are talking tresses. This pic can`t be about anything else but Hair makeup.


But there has to be a better way of picturing locks, than just shooting heads, head on.

Now if You`re still fixated on the faces... we can`t help it!





This shoot was`nt about hair alone, rather it was about the complete bridal hair and makeup. I wonder why we worked so hard on the hairdo of the bride, cause a bride with the head uncovered is a rarity.. Sigh!
And here are our brides in full wedding regalia.


































What makes working with all the three pros such a cakewalk is not just their extraordinary physical traits but also an ability to convey mood and emotion. Makes my life so much simpler.
It may seem unfair of us to employ extraordinary women to showcase products and services meant for the average Indian woman, but the fact is that this manner of model selection is not entirely a matter of choice.
 A model is supposed to have a somewhat exaggerated frame with a better than average height, longer arms, broader shoulders, bigger eyes, palms, cheeks etc..
On a person with a smaller frame I as a photographer would have to struggle trying to fit all the details and You would find the frame crammed and cluttered on a smaller canvas... remember the canvas?


Photography is all about the play of lights and shadows, and so a chiseled look helps a lot. Check out Sakshi`s shoulder bone.

Touching Woods

 

If You came across this detour by the Highway, would You stop and
 walk down and through, knowing You`ll be fading into a thick forest some distance away. Knowing Your phone will be displaying "No Network Coverage" and the nearest man made structure will be long out of Your visual range.. Would You?
Yes? Seriously?
For Your kind information this is the land of the Tiger.
Still interested? ... Come!!

There`s something about the crackle of dry leaves under my boots
over unpaved ground, through an unmade piece of land,
and the sound of crickets ratcheting up a cacophony in the daytime, that makes the forest feel so much more than just a romantic experience, and so much more than an adventure trip.
 Something that tells me that the Jungle is not a place I`m in or at,
 but it is a place in my Heart. A place in my heart, not for the Deja vu moment, but for the Finding Home moment.
And this time in the jungle I brought the Family along to share this place in my heart. Cause run away as I may from the city life, I would not leave the family to the city.
The Family.. this another place deep inside of me, came to Kanha National reserve, and in the reserve snagged a nicely done place to stay.
It was a place called Chitvan in the Kanha wildlife sanctuary, where the Jungle and the resort seem to merge into each other across undefined boundaries. But we are here for the forest, those cottages are there to spend the night over.. or we`d be at a place in the Tiger`s insides.
I so wished I had house like that, and a  forest for a backyard, and all I could see from the balcony were tree tops. Some Luxury.. huh..
At times I wonder how come the richest man in India would chose to build a profane tower to live in, in the middle of a densely populated city and overlooking slums and shanties..

This forest seems like a city centre of sorts for the various forms of life, that just continue to go about their business of the day, in a place that has all the possible shades of Green.
 Dark Green, light Green, sap green, olive green, brownish green, yellowish green, prickly green, smooth green, matt green to shiny and Glossy Green. And then come all the conceivable shades of Brown.

The air here; has a distinct smell to it.. It is probably the leaves, the trees, the dirt or the animals, or all of them or some of them..


 I call this particular smell, "Earth".









Smile buddy, You`re on camera!!

Yeah! That`s all I have of him. I could feel His presence around us on so many occasions, but.. I guess, I did`nt have a prior appointment.

And then there came the rains.. Jungle Rain..  the spell with a spell.. You`d have to be there to feel what it is like, I wish I could explain, it was Magical. Neti above just let all go.

Out of the Jungle, we pampered ourselves with a dip and a nap at the resort.. BLISS!!
